Great July Afternoon
Reported by: Mark

It was a great afternoon today off the Sea Fox today as we headed out for a couple shallow dives. We tied up at Anglers Reef for the first dive and the water was looking nice. We dropped in and headed along the reef checking out all the butterfly fish, squirrelfish, and wrasses all about.  There were also a couple eels about including a large yellow margin morey.

For the second dive we dove Koko Craters and again the water was looking great. We swam for the back side of the site and saw a green sea turtle floating about. Near by we also spotted a few green lionfish hiding on a coral head. As we headed for the back crater we found a small frogfish and tons of fish around the ledges. Just before surfacing we spotted a harlequin shrimp way under the ledge.

Data:
Anglers Reef - D: 46ft | BT: 33min | Viz: Good (51-75ft) | Surface: good
Koko Craters - D: 40ft | BT: 40min | Viz: Good (51-75ft) | Surface: great

6 octopi
Reported by: Larry

lots of octopus sighting today thanks to Cj the octo finder.  brian from washington state and local geoff joined me and Cj for their deep specialty dives.  also along were carlo, a surfer/diver from Spain, here on his honeymoon, matt, a teacher from DC, and toshi, currently from japan, but having spent a few years in hawaii.  all great divers.  conditions were good, smooth surface, a bit of surge which dropped the usually 100 plus viz down to about 60 feet.  baby barge was great, two sharks in the cave and another over on the rubble pile. and lots of turtles, 3 octopus, and an unsually aggressive big green moray. 2nd jump was fantasy, current was mild, so we hooked up diamond head side, swam over to the shark cave and said hello to the shark.  lots of turtles along the way, with Cj finding 3 more octos.  thanks all for a great time,
larry, Cj, capt. joe
